About a month before Zachary turned two, Mark and I decided Zachary may not have the speech and language skills he probably should have. We asked our friend and she agreed that he might be a little behind.
At his two-year appointment with our pediatrician, she agreed that we might want to have him evaluated. So, we did with a non-profit “early intervention” group called DDI Vantange.
Between the time we had his two-year well child check and the evaluation, his speech and language took off. When the DDI Vantage people came, they said he didn’t need language help. They said his cognitive development tested at the level of a 29-month-old, though his speech development tested at the level of a 20-month-old.
Yah, we know he’s smart.
And, thankfully, his language is probably where it should be now—he’s caught up.
By the way, he already recognizes all the letters (small and capital) and all the numbers. Thank you iPad and cell phone games.

Weird how kids hide their speech and then out of nowhere start talking.
