Two Month Check-up Stats

I took Zachary to the doctor on Friday for his two month check-up. He's pretty much perfect.

He measured in at 24.75 inches (95th percentile), 13 pounds 2 ounces (90th percentile), and 41.4 centimeters head circumference (75th percentile).

Does anyone else thing it's kind of funny that the length is measured in inches and the head is measured in centimeters?


Oh, this is what he wore to church yesterday. My boss's wife made the sweater and hat for him. She also made a small matching blanket. He wore it the first Sunday I took him to church a while ago--and he was swimming in it then. It's practically perfect now. He's growing, growing, growing.

Zachary Is Two Months Today!

Z-man (as Mark has affectionately called him) is two months old today! Man, time really flies (unless you're pregnant).

Here are some things I haven't yet posted:

* Zachary hates tummy time. I kind of laugh because he's got such a strong neck and back (he was holding his head up in the delivery room).

* Zachary has just recently (as in yesterday) started laughing at "Peek-a-boo." Until yesterday he didn't know how to react to it. But, yesterday when I was cooking dinner, I had him on the counter in his bouncer. I would duck down below the counter, below his line of vision, and pop up. He laughed! He loved it. We did that for almost ten minutes. I was eating it up.

* Zachary likes his play mat/toy sometimes, and other times he hates it. It's really not that he hates the toy, it's more that he's on the floor and not being held. Luckily, today he liked it.

* Zachary is growing out of a lot of his clothes vertically, not horizontally. Yes, he's putting on weight, but he's just so dang long! I love it.

* Zachary is super ticklish, but he doesn't yet know he's supposed to laugh. He will soon.

* Zachary's bald head (top, front) is starting to grow back. It's so fuzzy and soft. I love it. And the hair at the nape of his neck is sooooooo long. He really is getting his own mullet--even without me putting a silly wig on.

* Zachary totally cracked up yesterday when I was brushing my teeth. And he totally cracked up today when I was eating Cheetos. Maybe he thinks my mouth is funny.

We love this kid. We're so glad he came to our family!

Sweaters

Look at these two pictures. Other than the fact that Mark's sweater is a button-up cardigan, doesn't it look like it fits exactly with my family's sweaters?

Zachary's Sleep Patterns - Take 2

As mentioned in a previous post, Zachary was pretty consistent with waking up at 4:30 am for a week. Then he had two nights of sleeping through the night.

He's back to the 4:30 am pattern. He's still pretty consistent about it--except for the one day when he woke up at 5:30 am.

I have a joke about that too. I've been saying that Zachary must have an alarm clock in his crib, set for 4:30. The one day he woke up at 5:30 happened to be when the power went off in the middle of the night. So, the power must have affected his alarm clock too.

I Won! (at Darts)

I won at darts!!!!

Santa brought Mark a dart board last Christmas. We play it every once in a while. In the almost-year that we've had it, I've only won three times--counting tonight.

I won at darts tonight!!!!

Mark was killing me too--but I somehow (even with my bum thumb) won! It was because Zachary gave me good luck.

Zachary's Sleep Patterns

Zachary slept from approximately 10:00 pm to 4:30 am for a whole week. Another change in his sleep patterns has happened just the last two nights. Two nights ago he slept from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. And just last night he slept from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am. WOOT! That was sure nice (as far as my sleep, but, honestly, not so much for my milk supply--ouch!).

Have I mentioned how cute he is?

Update 11 November: He woke up at 3:30 this morning. But, he slept until 8:00 after I put him back to bed. That's okay, I can handle that. :-D

Zachary's Blessing Day

We blessed Zachary yesterday, November 1, 2009. It was wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.


There were no surprises on the name (our son stayed Zachary Clive Hales). So that's good.

Some of the things he was blessed with were a love for learning, an ability to love people, humor to cheer people up, and a testimony. Of course there were other things too. It was a beautiful blessing.

One of my friends (who is Jewish) told me that in Hebrew, this blessing, is called "mitzvah." She told me that it means "blessing from God." How appropriate, huh?


Following church, we came back to our condo building and hosted a pancake lunch. Yes--PANCAKES! It was so fun. I wish I had taken some pictures, but I was occupied.

We had syrup, three types of jam, and butter for toppings. We had apples and bananas. And, we had a bowl of fruit dip that was just as good on the pancakes as on the fruit.

Mark's mom was able to come down from Washington. She flew on Thursday night and I just took her back to the airport this morning. I hope she had a good time. We were so glad she came!


P.S. Zachary almost smiles on command now--at least for me. I'm loving being his mommy!

Zachary's First Halloween

We only tortured Zachary for a little while on Halloween. What I mean is--we only had him in his costume for about two hours on Halloween. He was so good (and sleepy) most of the time.

Friends gave us so many hand-me-downs when they found out we were having a boy. One of the zillions of things we sorted through was a homemade frog costume. I tried it on him the other day to see if it was truly too big for him. Turned out to be almost the exact right size. So, Zach was a FROG!

A funny thing about this day was that my brother and sister-in-law (who are expecting their #1 any minute now) that live in Cedar City sent Zachary a present. We got it Halloween afternoon. It was a KERMIT THE FROG BLANKET! Yes! Hilarious. Perfect. So, that's what Zachary was sporting at the ward's trunk-or-treat party.

Mark and I put our costumes together at the last minute. I made a mummy costume two years ago. Mark had this hideous wig and the ref shirt from ages ago. And together, we were one happy family!
