A Surprising Cereal Comparison

This morning I came across a surprising discovery: Malt-O-Meal Honey Nut Scooters are more nutritious for you than Kellogg's Special K Red Berries.

Don't they tout on TV how wonderful Special K is? Don't they praise the dietary goodness of Special K?

Well, doing a simple side-by-side comparison of the two products showed that while Special K has a few things of higher nutritional value, Scooters are overall better for you. Interesting, huh? I thought so.

Lousy Emailers

I am related to at least six lousy emailers. Those are people that I email often and hope for some kind of acknowledgement that they got my email.

Why are people lousy emailers? (This is where a response is requested.) Is it that hard to hit "Reply" and say, "Thanks" or "Got it"?

Gee whiz.......

He Doesn't Believe Me

Last night I slept very well. In fact, I almost slept through the whole night. (That would be a first in ages. Usually I wake up when I realize Mark is mashing his pillow into my head.)

There was only one time that I woke up--when I realized Mark was trying to tickle my leg.

He doesn't believe me though.

I swatted his hand away. He turned over. I turned over. And I immediately fell back to sleep.

Mark doesn't believe that it happened. He thinks I dreamed it. I didn't, though. Silly man.........

Chinese New Year Dinner

In honor of Chinese New Year, we had a little potluck at our house last night. No - none of our guests were Chinese either. We just thought it would be a good excuse to get together. Sadly, I didn't take a single picture.

Mark humored me and we bought two simple decorations for the "party," a table runner with dragons on it and a "fireworks" centerpiece with Chinese symbols for fortune, wealth, health, and something else.

S. Reeder (her husband couldn't come) brought crab and cream cheese wontons; the Neikamps brought fried rice and fortune cookies (that we made after dinner--including writing the fortunes); the Hadfields brought orange chicken and white rice; and we made sausage wontons and egg drop soup. It was a perfect little dinner!

The sad news: Mark and I lost our first game as hosts. Yah, we're silly--but we like to win. We played Cranium. The Neikamps won. In fact, they kicked our behinds. Props to them. Sad for us. heheheh..............

Happy Chinese New Year!!!!

We Still Have Christmas Up

We still have Christmas up at our house. Well, just our Christmas cards and letters. We even got some after my birthday. But, they have finally stopped coming in.

Thank you - everyone - who sent us your good wishes, your love, and your testimonies of the Savior. We truly did have a wonderful Christmas and felt all the good feelings of the season.

God bless!

A Turkey, a Wedding, and a Doctor

What does that title make you think of? Perhaps of a turkey dinner where a proposal for marriage occurred...the marriage took place...and then the new wife had to go to a doctor [wink, wink]? Something like that, right?

WRONG! Hehehehe........

That's just a summary of the highlights from last week for me and Mark. But, the order is different than that.

The Doctor
I have been wanting to go to a chiropractor for a long time. My back is pretty annoying a lot of the time. I got a compression fracture on my 7th thoracic vertebrae on January 1, 2000. Since then, my back tires really easily.

I have also been wanting Mark to go to a chiropractor for a long time. He often complains about his lower back and about his shoulders. I don't know how to fix him, so I wanted a professional to have a look.

Finally, I convinced Mark that we could go. We went together. The doctor, Jeremy Wimmer, allowed/encouraged us to have our initial consultations together. Why? Because then we both know what the deal-e-o is with the other person. And so if one of us had questions about the other, we could ask it. It was very enlightening.

My back has a very slight curve to it. My neck is starting to go the wrong direction and it's very tight. Mark's vertebrae are starting to "step" instead of lining up. And, Mark's hips are WAAAAAY off--so much that you can VISIBLY see it on his x-ray.

So, we are both now seeing a chiropractor.

The Wedding
Two of Mark's friends from his last single's ward pre-American Samoa got married last week. Mark was very happy for them--he's been cheering for them for a while. They came to our wedding barbeque even--but only as BF/GF.

I think they were happy to see us there. Yah, it was good.

The Turkey
In all my life, I have never bowled a turkey. I have bowled two strikes and then a spare, but never yet a turkey--until this past Saturday.

Mark and I did a bunch of errands on Saturday. One of them included getting the tires rotated. While we were waiting at Discount Tire, we went next door to the bowling alley. We played one game, and I smoked my dear husband.

I don't think it was my best game ever, but it sure was a good feeling to finally get a turkey! Woot! Yah!

Too bad it only happened on the last frame. That means it was only 30 points instead of like a kajillion.

The Vernal Temple

For my 30th birthday, Mark took me to Vernal, Utah. Yup, Vernal. I know - romantic, yes?

Actually, it is. And I loved it!

As mentioned previously, Mark and I have a goal to visit all the temples in Utah and do temple work in each of them. Well, now we only have two left (Manti and St. George).

It was great. We left work only about an hour and a half early on Friday. We threw some stuff in a suitcase and headed south-east. We talked for a while, but then we started listening to the first of the Harry Potter books.

We got to Vernal about 6:45. We found what we thought was where we were staying, only to be confused with the one kitty-corner with the same name. (Yes, the same name.)

Our room was beautiful. And, it had a long bolster, much like a body pillow. It made me laugh because I always use a body pillow. Mark said, "I ordered that for you." Goofus.

We had dinner at the 7 11 Restaurant, a local place. Actually, like one of two local places that had food. All the others were chain restaurants. I got a chicken-fried steak. Mark got a half rack of pork ribs. Both of our dinners were messy and hit the spot. Each dinner came with soup, salad, and a scone. Yup, we were stuffed!

Next morning, we took our time getting ready. We had breakfast (waffles) there at the hotel. Then we went to the temple. We took a few pictures because we had just missed a session, so we had over an hour to spend.

The Vernal temple was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I was uplifted spiritually as well. It was so nice to go and talk with Mark about the Savior and the plan of salvation. I felt my Heavenly Father's love. I am grateful for a husband who likes to please me by doing the small things and the big things for me.

After the temple, we changed in the next-door church where a funeral had just taken place. We tried going to the Utah Field House of Natural History, but they were closed. Sad. To compensate, I took a picture of the dinosaurs in front. I also took some drive-by pictures of the restaurant we ate at the night before, a giant beehive on a motel, and a giant fishing hook. We went to Subway and had ourselves a sandwich piled high with veggies for lunch.

It was a most wonderful trip. THANK YOU MARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
